Nikon nef plugin vista

The demand for official 64 bit support has grown louder and louder but Nikon is still slow to respond. That has caused some grief among certain Nikon RAW shooters. Some even reported that it works in the upcoming Windows 7. How I did it? I then just created a shortcut to the bit version on my desktop, so that I could access it easily. Please let us know if it does work this way.

Personally I found raw codecs little useful even on the supported 32bit system. You can download it here. Email Not published. Notify me of follow-up comments by email. After scouring the various Nikon sites for information, then uninstalling my ailing copy of Capture NX for what must have been the 5th or 6th time, then reinstalling it, I also installed the latest version of the Updater, version 1.

So just make sure you have the latest version of this program and it will work even with bit Vista. The version of Capture NX that you received with your D is not the latest version that is now available for download from a Nikon site.

Grand Master Flash 14 years ago. Just purchased a computer at DELL. I have the choice to go Vista 64 or Was it worth going 64 without Nikon RAW codec? Does anyone find a performance boost with LR 1. I know they're not native I believe LR beta 2 may be , but any advantage? LR2 is native I'm sure - it asked me what version to download, Win32 or Win As for performance boost in the other apps, negligable for me, but it will allow more RAM to be used.

Ardfry 14 years ago. There is no way around this, even Adobe has been struggling for years, and still is, to approximate out-of-camera JPEG renditions with its own converter in Photoshop and Lightroom. I believe this is not the case so the codec actually works fine. In the future I plan to add a configuration utility which will allow some level of tuning, for example an option that will force the codecs to always use the embedded JPEG and never try to render the raw data, this would solve your 3 points at once.

As for the speed, I invite you to test and compare with the Nikon codec and see for yourself. The latest version now ships with a configuration tool that let users force the NEF codec to use the embedded JPEG, this basically solves the speed and accuracy issues that were mentioned in the post. NRW files. I posted an inquiry about it here, but no one responded. It's still a puzzle. Kent Shafer , Jun 11, Light room and photoshop use the same processing Adobe Camera Raw engines.

So no worries. Kent - Windows typically does a bad job of recognizing any Raw file formats. I own a Nikon P and the raw files open just fine in Lightroom 3. You may need to download the latest version of LR3 which has added support for Nikon P I have LR version 3.
